So says the scripture Lam 4 : 1 [Niv] bible which in context is a prophecy way back , talking about” people” in our “modern” times as well as the near future from that point on . The understanding is since mankind in general has rejected God we then lose all kinds of proper understanding in many areas of life , like how to eat right . I don’t think one bible commentary understands that this verse is about people .
Have you noticed how dull , pasty, and the lack of color in people’s faces . Funny , but a friend just mentioned this exact observation about the people , who frequent a local health food store that we also frequent . You would think people who go to health food stores would in general have a healthy facial appearance[ color] [ which can tell a lot about a persons health] but they don’t , because even those who go to health food stores still don’t eat right . Health food stores have all kinds of items that you do not want to put into your body like canola oil, reduced fat dairy products , chemicals , white bread etc .
Here are two short articles concerning this subject of facial color .
Skin color gives clues to health
- November 23, 2009
- Researchers have found that the color of a person’s skin affects how healthy and therefore attractive they appear, and have found that diet may be crucial to achieving the most desirable complexion.
Researchers from the universities of Bristol and St. Andrews in the UK have found that the color of a person’s skin affects how healthy and therefore attractive they appear, and have found that diet may be crucial to achieving the most desirable complexion. The work will be published in the December issue of Springer’s International Journal of Primatology.
Using specialist computer software, a total of 54 Caucasian participants of both sexes were asked to manipulate the skin color of male and female Caucasian faces to make them look as healthy as possible. They chose to increase the rosiness, yellowness and brightness of the skin.
“Most previous work on faces has focused on the shape of the face or the texture of the skin, but one of the most variable characteristics of the face is skin color,” said Dr. Ian Stephen who is now at the University of Bristol.
“We knew from our previous work that people who have more blood and more oxygen color in their skins looked healthy, and so we decided to see what other colors affect health perceptions. This has given us some clues as to what other skin pigments may relate to a healthy appearance.”
Skin that is slightly flushed with blood and full of oxygen suggests a strong heart and lungs, supporting the study’s findings that rosier skin appeared healthy. Smokers and people with diabetes or heart disease have fewer blood vessels in their skin, and so skin would appear less rosy.
The preference for more golden or ‘yellow-toned’ skin as healthier might be explained by the ‘carotenoid pigments’ that we get from the fruit and vegetables in our diet. These plant pigments are powerful antioxidants that soak up dangerous compounds produced when the body combats disease. They are also important for our immune and reproductive systems and may help prevent cancer.
They are the same dietary pigments that brightly colored birds and fish use to show off their healthiness and attract mates, and the researchers think that similar biological mechanisms may be at work in humans.
“In the West we often think that sun tanning is the best way to improve the color of your skin,” said Ian Stephen, “but our research suggests that living a healthy lifestyle with a good diet might actually be better.”
Melanin, the pigment that causes the tan color when skin is exposed to the sun makes the skin darker and more yellow, but participants in the study chose to make skin lighter and more yellow to make it look healthier.
“This discovery is very exciting and has given us a promising lead into cues to health,” said Professor David Perrett, head of the Perception Lab at the University of St. Andrews, where the research took place.
“What we eat and not just how much we eat appears to be important for a healthy appearance. The only natural way in which we can make our skin lighter and more yellow is to eat a more healthy diet high in fruit and vegetables.”
Skin Tone Linked To Fruit And Vegetable Consumption
Most people know eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables is good for long term health, but unfortunately, not that many actually consume the recommended daily amount. Now scientists at the University of St Andrews in the UK are hoping to appeal to another motivator: vanity.
They report in a study published recently in the American Journal of Public Health, that eating more fruit and vegetables can change skin tone, lending it a healthier glow, within a matter of weeks.
Apparently it is all down to carotenoids, the orangey-red pigments found in fruits and vegetables.
Study supervisor Professor David Perrett and colleagues found that just two extra portions of fruit and veg a day for six weeks was enough to cause a detectable change in skin tone.
For the study, they recruited 35 students and followed their diet and changes in skin colour over 6 weeks. They also monitored how much of a change in skin colour had to take place before it was noticed by others.
Researchers suggest that eating fruit and vegetables can change your skin tone
The results showed that participants that increased their consumption of fruits and vegetables over the observation period showed a change in skin colour, toward more of a golden healthy glow. Those whose diet went the other way, with less fruit and veg, showed a reduction in skin tone.
In a media statement released this week, lead author Ross Whitehead, a researcher at St Andrews, said:
“People who eat more fruit and vegetables have a ‘golden’ skin tone that looks healthy and attractive. Our latest research finds that even small improvements in diet produces visible benefits to skin colour.”
He said they were very surprised at how quickly the change occured.
“Although skin colour varies markedly across the world, we find similar effects across different cultures – for Asians and Europeans alike a good diet is associated with an attractive skin tone.”
“The message that a good diet improves skin colour could improve health across the globe.”
Co-author Dr Gozde Ozakinci lectures in Health Psychology at St Andrews. He said:
“Appearance can be a powerful motivator. It is being used in other health campaigns to persuade people to avoid smoking, excessive sun exposure and alcohol consumption, all of which may speed up ageing. Our research points to the different benefits of a diet rich in fruit and vegetables on a healthy skin appearance.”
Think about Dan 1 : 12 -15 . He ate a certain way and he looked better than everyone else . How well you eat in “general” will determine how well you look . There are exceptions to the rule . People who eat fast food , junk food etc and still look good .
Dan 1 refers to a pulse diet which is really anything plant based or live , no dead foods , like animal meats or meats of any kind . In other words , it was the pre- flood way recommended in Genesis Gen 1 : 29 , 30 . Basically whole grains , fruits / veg , leafy greens , seeds , spring or well water .
Notice he stayed on this for 10 days , not continuously !!! . Sure enough people go on it for long periods of time erroneously believing that if 10 days is good , longer periods is even better , which is not true . Staying on it too long because it’s [strictly] plant-based and nothing of animal products like whole dairy will cause deficiency’s in the fat soluble vitamins A, D, as well as omega-3’s, and “saturated” fat , which a strict plant based diet does not give enough of .
When you eat right like whole grains , which have oils that refined [ white ] bread doesn’t have or whole dairy [ grass] fed , dark tuna fish, walnuts , all which gives you omega 3’s and DHA that keeps the skin, hair, from being dried out .
Again , as I stated somewhere in a blog before , I had a boss who became a strict vegan. There was a picture on a wall of what he looked like years before he became a vegan , eating lots of red meat , pork and compared to how he looked when I worked for him was literally unbelievable . I literally couldn’t believe that it was the same person . My point, how you look is almost totally dependent upon how you eat .
As the saying goes “you are what you eat .”
Now that I think of it, it’s the same with animals as people . I had a rott- chow mix and I fed him as dogs were fed in times past , when there was no junkie dog food Pre 1970’s, which is full of cancer causing chemicals , by-products and devoid of calcium and oils . I fed him whole grains, whole dairy, eggs, dark tuna all the best for omega 3’s [ which are the best for healthy skin and hair ] spring water , real cheese from whole milk , etc ! .
I had him with me one day at a health food store out on the side-walk and a lady said , and these were her exact words ” he is the healthiest looking dog I ever saw” . I might add the women was not young so to speak but like in her 50’s or 60’s which meant she had seen a dog or two in her time .
Look at dogs today , have you noticed how bad their coats look , all dried out shedding .
Again , if you eat how I advocate in this blog site your appearance will change so much for the better. I guarantee people will notice and you will be surprised at the comments they make .
This shows that diets like Keto , Atkins , Paleo which are low in fruits and whole dairy are no good . We are made from the dust of the ground the elements of the earth not animal meats . See Gen 3 : 19
As the above articles stated the more fruits/ veg you eat the better peoples facial color looked .
Also , there is an essential oil , frankincense , which is very biblical . When you rub it on your skin , face , back of the hands it greatly adds luster or shine .
